JOHN, IT’S ABOUT YOU: GIVE THE MONEY TO A CHARITY

(Lynnfield, MA) — Late today, Congressman John Tierney angrily asserted that Congressional candidate Richard Tisei had personally attacked Patrice Tierney. Tisei had called on the Tierneys to give the full value of all money and gifts paid to his family by a major criminal enterprise to a charity.

“It’s this simple: follow the money. A federal judge has ruled that Daniel Eremian, John Tierney’s brother-in-law, must forfeit $7.7 million that derived from criminal activity. At least $223,000.00 from the illegal gambling operation found its way into the Tierney household,” said Tisei. “My message couldn’t be simpler: get rid of that money, John Tierney. Give it to a charity – maybe Gambler’s Anonymous.”

“Today, John Tierney hid behind his wife as he has before. Two years ago, he said ‘oh, that was her family.’ Well, it’s his behavior that concerns me. He’s the Congressman. He’s the one who owes the people his honesty and good judgment,” said Tisei. “John Tierney is the one who should see to it that his family gives ALL of the money they received to a charity – now.”

“I’ve never attacked John or Patrice Tierney in a personal way and I never will. It is contemptible that John Tierney, whose family has in fact been seriously involved in criminal activities, isn’t the slightest bit contrite with the voters. Rather, he goes on the warpath against anyone with the nerve to question his actions. He acts like an imperial Congressman – and he is not,” said Tisei. “I do question John Tierney’s actions and I will continue to do so until he gives the money that his family received from a criminal enterprise to a charity. He needs to do that now – instead of attempting to deflect the issues by hiding behind false accusations that I’m attacking Mrs. Tierney.”

“The sooner John Tierney puts this issue behind us by giving the ill-gotten gains to a charity, the sooner we can begin debating the real issues. The enormous debt and horrible jobs reports need to be dealt with and we need a Congressman with the independence and integrity to deal forthrightly with these larger issues,” said Tisei.
