(Hudson, Mass.) – Former Governor Paul Cellucci today announced his support for Richard Tisei, candidate for Congress in Massachusetts’ 6th Congressional District.

Calling Tisei a “fiscal conservative who’s also a kind and caring human being,” Gov. Cellucci spoke of the leadership Tisei provided on Beacon Hill while Cellucci was Governor. “I’ve known Richard for more than twenty years and, when I was Governor, I knew that I could count on Richard as a principled friend and ally. Whether we were fighting to reduce taxes, cut spending, or reform state government, I always knew that I could count on Richard’s leadership and strong support,” said Cellucci.

“I’m humbled and very grateful for the support of Governor Paul Cellucci,” said Tisei. “He’s a great and admirable man and leader. During his time as Governor, the people knew that a man of tremendous integrity who also shared their values was at the helm. I’m gratified beyond expression to have his support in my race for Congress.”

Tisei, a former state representative and senator, served with Cellucci in the legislature. The two then worked together during Cellucci’s time as Governor Bill Weld’s Lieutenant Governor and then during Cellucci’s time as Governor.

“I believe that Richard can and will win his race for Congress. That’s why I’m doing everything that I can to support him – and calling on other concerned citizens to be involved and support Richard as much as they can,” said Cellucci. “Richard will provide an honest and principled voice for the people of the 6th Congressional District and I’m anxious to see him win this November.”
